Southside Concerned Citizens of Atlanta Community Association started in 1988 under the direction and guidance of Mrs. Rosel Fann, Mrs. Joyce Smith, Mrs. Miles, and Deacon Cohen. At that time, it was called the Poole Creek Community Association. In 2004, Poole Creek combined with Blair Villa and Orchard Knob to form Southside Concerned Citizens under the direction of Deacon Richard Cohen. After his sudden passing in April 2019, due to lost records and improper filings, the name was officially changed to Southside Concerned Citizens of Atlanta in July 2019. The organization is currently under the leadership of Coreen Dent and several appointed committee chairpersons.
Throughout the name and leadership changes of the organization, its dedication to enhancing quality of life for all residents, dedication to caring for our seniors and dedication to taking steps to install community pride have all been consistent.
Our commitment to our residents can be seen in various community programs, improved relations with local business owners, houses of worship and other non-profits that have yielded awesome support for residents, annual community recognition program, annual LIVE HERE/ THRIVE HERE event, staying on top of resident concerns by going the extra mile to ensure residents feel heard, valued, respected, and appreciated.
Southside Concerned Citizens of Atlanta continues to be dedicated to enhancing the quality of life and opportunities within our community, maintaining a strong commitment to residents of all ages. Our Youth Ambassador Initiative seeks to instill civic awareness and engagement among young individuals, aiming to foster positive change that benefits entire families. We demonstrate ongoing support for senior residents through regular check-in calls and annual senior basket distributions. We also prioritize the well-being of young adults and children by organizing community clean-up events, movies in the park, annual holiday dinners, and recognition programs. We address concerns proactively and strive to resolve adverse situations to uphold the standards of our community.
Southside Concerned Citizens of Atlanta is an organization that believes in showing respect, kindness, and appreciation for our residents, our environment, and our future generations.
Don’t just live here, THRIVE HERE!
